Short Synopsis
Stag Beetle follows the story of an 8-year-old girl, Phoebe, as she struggles to come to terms with her mothers’ terminal cancer.
Knowing that something is wrong, Phoebe escapes into the woods where a mysterious clicking noise calls to her and she finds an injured beetle. Phoebe is fascinated by the creature and immediately becomes compelled to save it, discovering that it is a female stag beetle.
In the night that follows the beetle calls to her in the woods and appears as a giant, towering over Phoebe, its left wing limp. Phoebe befriends the beetle, sewing up its wing…
About
Stag Beetle will be directed by Eleanor Dolan and produced by Paul Dubois. Junior Day will be joining as an associate producer.
Stag Beetle is hoping to secure funding from the BFI alongside schemes such as ‘Grey Moth Originals’ and public crowd funding projects. Pre-production is due to begin in late 2021.
